Hello again

Hello again. I started this blog in hopes to keep in touch with my family in Japan, however I haven’t kept up on it. What a year it’s been! Paul and I have now been together for over 10 years, we lost our beloved dog Bailey at the age of 15, we rescued our new dog, Gambit (age 2), and we are planning the next steps for our future.

The future. That’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot these past few months. What do I wan’t to do? This question must come up a lot for everyone whose trying to figure out their next step. I left my job at the end of April because a career I was passionate in wasn’t available, nor would be available, that much was clear. After months of pondering and weighing my options, I chose to leave to figure out my next step for my career. My job search has currently taken a halt while Paul and I figure out our next steps for our future.

This has given me the opportunity to actually start what this blog was meant for, to create something that will connect me with my family in Japan. So, I started a YouTube channel and I am continuing this blog.  I hope this helps to give my family in Japan a better glimpse into my life since we do not get to see each other often. For anyone interested in my life, the link to my YouTube channel is at the end of this post.

I’m nervous. I’m excited. I’m scared. I’m pushing myself.

And I need to not hold back on doing something because I’m scared what others will think of me. So here’s to a new start on a project.

Shamrock Stride 2016

I participated in the Shamrock Run yesterday! I have always wanted to do one of these, Portland seems to always have one every month and I am so glad that I was able to participate! I walked the 5K with two of my friends, Jennifer and Jaymee. It was incredibly wet, but like in true Portland style that didn’t stop the participants from walking/running!

Look at all these participants! And this was just a small amount of them.

There were so many people dressed up in green tutus and everything St. Patrick’s Day related. A lot of people with their family out and about in the rain, it truly felt like a Portland day, rain or shine all of us will be outside enjoying the day! We did make a stop at Starbucks towards the end of the race though. Our coats were soaking wet and we definitely needed something warm to drink! Here’s a picture of us waiting for our coffee:

It was an extremely fun day and even though we were drenched, wet and cold, I still had a lot of fun being able to participate during the walk with these lovely ladies. Can’t wait to do this again next year!

Flowers, Lunch and Rain

IMG_20160311_095016

I had the day off today! I feel like it’s been a while since I had a day off. We needed a trimmer for our yard so I decided to take a trip to Home Depot. There were so many beautiful flowers in bloom! I decided to buy a few of them: yellow tulips and pansies.

Look how beautiful they are! I can’t wait to plant them! Though I have no idea where to plant them yet….

After I came back from Home Depot, mom and I went to a restaurant that we both had never been to before. They had a short menu with selections of different seasonal soups and seafood options. I decided to try their mussels, when it came out it smelled and looked delicious! Take a look below:

I was enjoying my mussels, but about a 1/3 of it was actually spoiled…. The coconut sauce it came in was tangy and great, I just wish the mussels were fresh when they had cooked it. We won’t be returning again. Hopefully I won’t get sick tomorrow.

A Start

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog! I wanted to start this blog for my family in Japan, those who I don’t see often (and by often I mean years and even decades.) Even though I may not see them for long periods of time, I still want to feel connected to them. Thus, the start of this blog!

I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest in Portland, OR. I have lived in Oregon my whole life. I honestly can’t picture myself living anywhere else. My parents moved over here in the early 80’s while the rest of our family lives in Japan. I haven’t had the opportunity to visit them as often as I would like, but maybe through this blog we can share our lives.
